Why this matters:What this page actually settles for you, and what it deliberately does not settle, with sources for every claim.
If a child encounters content that is illegal in your jurisdiction — sexual material involving minors, extremist propaganda calling for violence, or content that incites self-harm — most countries operate a hotline that accepts reports.
Prerequisites
- URL, timestamp, and where appropriate, screenshot of the content.
- Country in which the content was accessible (for jurisdiction of the reporting hotline).
- Assessment of criminal liability is not the reporter’s task — the hotline assesses.
Steps
- Copy the URL and note the date and time.
- Where legally permitted: take a screenshot.
- Choose the country’s hotline:
- Germany: jugendschutz.net (see jugendschutz-net-erste-hilfe).
- EU: INHOPE member hotlines (see emergency-hotlines).
- Submit the report — anonymously, without putting yourself at risk.
- Wait for an answer; do not escalate yourself.
