Guest network outside the parental-control policy
How common it is: not established; outcome is router-configuration-specific.
Detection
The device appears in the guest-network client list rather than the primary LAN, or obtains an address from a guest VLAN/subnet that has different policy.
Fix (technical)
Apply the same intended child policy to the guest network, or do not make the guest credentials available to the child. UI path: router-specific; no universal EN/DE path exists. Verify that DNS, IPv4,…
Fix (relational)
A guest network often exists for a legitimate reason. Explain why it has different trust assumptions rather than turning every available network into a hidden trap.
Residual risk
Other unmanaged Wi-Fi networks and cellular data remain unaffected.
