“One More Minute” Grace Period Exploitation
Detection
Child repeatedly gains 60 seconds of extra app usage after screen time expires across multiple limited apps.
Fix (technical)
This is an OS-level design feature designed to allow users to save progress. It cannot be globally disabled. To mitigate impact, set Downtime or App Limits 5 minutes earlier than the absolute desired stop time4.
Fix (relational)
Explain to the child that the 1-minute extension is intended solely for saving work or logging out cleanly, not for starting new activities.
Residual risk
The child can still trigger the 1-minute extension once per app per day.
